The Alcohol-Related Disease Impact (ARDI) system. ARDI provides easy access to data measuring the impact of alcohol use on public health. Use the reports below to assess deaths and years of potential life lost due to alcohol use. Use the ARDI to determine the alcohol-attributable deaths for the state you grew up in and the state in which you are attending college, for example. Compare these 2 numbers with the numbers for the U.S. and graph all 3 points. Repeat the exercise for Years of Potential Life Lost. Compare your numbers with those in your class. Discuss what this means and how measures to decrease alcohol abuse can affect the health of a state.
